New Manual and GUI Version for OPTIPACT

BackgroundWe would like to point our customers to a few features of the OPTIPACT which are not commonly known. These features were implemented in the OPTIPACT starting with version 6.08 and later. The version number can be read out with the GUI. In the now updated manual, these functions are explained; also we plan to create application notes to help with an easy implementation of these functions at customer sides. For an easy operation with these features a new GUI was designed as well. The current versions of the manual and the GUI are now available for download on our homepage.
ApplicationThe main enhancements of the OPTIPACT sensors are the digital and diagnostic outputs. The digital outputs will expand the functionality of the OPTIPACT from a pure measurement device to a simple process control or process monitoring system. The digital outputs can be programmed to signal a maximum / minimum velocity, also a given length can be signalled. The same outputs can be programmed as diagnostic outputs. With this functionality, the OPTIPACT will automatically monitor it`s measurement results and will signal a warning level if this self monitoring function will detect a potential loss of functionality. In combination with the basic advantages, like non-contact and slip free measurement principle, of the OPTIPACT sensors, a precise process control is permitted to improve the quality and enhance the capability of the production systems.
TechnologyThe new Sensor Configurator Software (GUI 1.4.6) enables the easy configuration of the digital outputs. You can find a detailed description, how to handle with these features, in the new OPTIPACT manual. The easy to use manual has embedded links that helps the user jump to relevant sections of the document easily. The new Sensor Configuration Software is downwards compatible, hence users with older versions of the OPTIPACT can use this as well. The additional features of the new GUI and manual makes it even more interesting for the expert users.
ConclusionThe basic principle of the OPTIPACT sensor from the company INTACTON in combination with the advanced features, the new GUI and manual expand the scope of applications. Furthermore the sensor provides low installation, service and maintenance costs and offer the possibility to realize a non-contact, slip-free process control.
